France. The 13th century castle originally belonged to the chamberlain Charles VII. Subsequent owners changed quite often, until in 1953 the building was finally transferred to the tourism union. Val Castle is surrounded by an artificial lake, and every year, during floods, the water reaches the walls. The castle is featured in the films Captain (1960) and Frankenstein 90 (1984).
