Crocuses
Crocus, or saffron, is a genus of bulbous herbaceous plants, the Iris family. The name "crocus" comes from the Greek word that translates as "fiber, thread". The name "saffron" comes from the Arabic word, translated as "yellow", this is because the stigmas of the flowers are of this exact color: the piquant and expensive spice saffron is obtained from crocus stamens. Today the plant is very popular with gardeners because it is one of the most beautiful primroses (early spring flowers). But few people know that there are a large number of species of such plants, the flowering of which occurs in autumn.
