Pieter Brueghel the Younger
Pieter Brueghel the Younger (1564-1636), Dutch painter is best known for copies from his father, Pieter Brueghel the Elder. Nickname - Hellish.
The eldest son of the famous and sought-after Flemish painter Pieter Brueghel the Elder was born in Brussels. In 1569 the father of the family died, and in 1578 the artist's mother died. According to Karel van Mander, a 17th-century Flemish painter and art historian, Peter's first teacher was his maternal grandmother Maiken Verhulst.
After moving to Antwerp, Peter entered the studio of Gillis van Koningsloh, a painter who became famous throughout the Netherlands for his innovative techniques in the field of landscape painting.
It is believed that at the beginning of his creative career, Bruegel Jr. he was fond of depicting scenes of the Last Judgment and the horrors of hell, imitating Hieronymus Bosch, for which he received the nickname "Infernal". One way or another, religious subjects were present in the master's work, but scenes depicting rural life brought him much more fame.
