Pierre Oliver Joseph Coomans

Pierre Oliver Joseph Coomans (1816-1889) Belgian artist originally from Brussels was one of the most popular European painters of his time. Traveling around Italy, Turkey and Greece, he made many sketches, which later were embodied in the historical plots of his paintings.
The amazing revival of the inhabitants of Pompeii in the canvases of this Belgian artist, the romantic mood of his canvases and the childish spontaneity of the heroes of the plot made him very popular and bought among his contemporaries.
