Nathan Walsh
A love of cityscapes is what sets Nathan Walsh apart from other artists. The beauty of his urban oil paintings is that, at first glance, they are almost indistinguishable from photographs, but upon closer look they amaze with geometric accuracy and realism of the image. An accurate mathematical calculation helps Nathan achieve phenomenal accuracy: before starting work on a painting, the author projects the relative position of objects with millimeter accuracy, while manipulating the height and width of buildings so as not to violate the proportions anywhere. People “appear” in the paintings later, when the main object has already been drawn, the artist strives to achieve such an effect that the viewer can literally penetrate “inside” the drawn world, imagining moving through it. In addition, Nathan loves to experiment with reflective objects, as well as light and shadow.
