Johann Georg Meyer von Bremen
Artist Johann Georg Meyer von Bremen (1813-1886) was born in Bremen. A genre painter, a student of the Düsseldorf Academy, von Bremen began with biblical subjects, then went to the Bavarian and Swiss mountain regions, where he was so impressed with the life of ordinary peasants that he began to paint genre paintings with scenes from the life of peasants. These canvases have since become very famous. His paintings are kept in many museums around the world.
