Johan Laurentz Jensen (1800-1856) Danish painter who specialized in flower painting. He studied painting at the Royal Academy with famous artists, later continued his education in Paris with famous masters of Flemish flower painting, and also studied the art of flower miniature at the porcelain factory in Sevres, where he became the main artist. Johan Laurentz Jensen continued the tradition of Dutch still life and revived this art in Denmark. His still life paintings with flowers embody extraordinary elegance and the smallest details of flowers. The dark neutral background allowed the colorful colors of the flowers to be shown. Roses were often the main theme, sometimes a different flower was added such as a lily or several flowers of different varieties. His paintings are very rich in color variety, splendor of shades and brightness of colors.
