Heinrich Bürkel

Heinrich Bürkel (Heinrich Bürkel) - German genre and landscape artist. Representative of the Biedermeier style in German painting. Born in Rhine Bavaria. In 1817 he decided to study law, but, encouraged by friends, he took up art. From 1822 he studied at the Munich Academy of Arts. In 1823-1832 he repeatedly visited Italy and lived in Rome, traveled to Tyrol and Bavaria. Participated in art exhibitions in Germany and abroad (London, 1862, Paris, 1867, etc.). Landscape painter, especially in winter landscape scenes. Often used staffage. Author of a number of genre and battle paintings, paintings with images of animals.
His genre paintings were partly influenced by the old Dutch masters of the 17th century and the artists of Italy. Many of his works were bought for private collections in America. The number of his paintings is very large. According to some estimates, he painted about 1000 paintings and 6000 drawings.
