Hans Andersen Brendekilde
Hans Andersen Brendekilde - Danish painter, glass designer and sculptor of ceramics, was born in the family of a forester on April 7, 1857 in the town of Brendekilde. Brendekilde is best known as a master of landscapes and genre scenes. He studied the craft of a bricklayer and then studied sculpture in Copenhagen at Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi (1877-1881), where he later decided to become an artist. Brendekilde's remarkable paintings depict the life of rural workers. The artist, with love for nature and people, depicts in his paintings the idyll of life of peasants on farms, among wonderful flowers and trees.
In addition to landscapes, the artist described his travels in Italy, Egypt and Syria with paints on canvases. In the last years of his life, he painted large paintings on religious themes.
The artist died on March 30, 1942, in Jülling, Denmark.
