Haddon Hubbard Sundblom
Haddon Hubbard "Sunny" Sundblom is an American illustrator. Artist Haddon Sandblom painted numerous semi-erotic pin-up posters, but he became famous primarily as the author of the recognizable image of the American Santa Claus: a suspicious fat man in a red suit , at night crawling into houses in which families with small children live ... This image was created in 1931, and exclusively for advertising purposes for Coca-Cola. Despite the commercial orientation of the image, it became extremely popular and deeply entered the American culture.
In the mid-20th century, many American pin up artists imitated Haddon Sandblom's artistic style.
In the last years of his life, Haddon's business did not go very well - younger artists ousted him from the niche of advertising illustration, and therefore Sandblom had to again engage in drawing exclusively erotic and provocative illustrations, this time for Playboy magazine.
