George Goodwin Kilburn - genre painting
George was born in Huckford, near Ripham, Norfolk on July 24, 1839, the eldest of three children of Kilburn Goodwin (1812-1887), and lived for many years at Hawkhurst House, 39 Steeles Road, Haverstock Hill, Hampstead in London.
Kilburn traveled extensively in Italy in 1875, lived in Rome for three months, in addition to working in Venice, and also in 1876. He made many sketches in Normandy and Switzerland, in addition to visiting many parts of England and Wales. He was a member of many societies and Academies, and regularly exhibited. Kilburn's work can be seen today in many public and private galleries.
