Gaetano Chierici
Gaetano Chierici (1838-1920) - an outstanding Italian painter, one of those masters who managed to perfectly depict the life of the common people of Italy. Transferring to his canvases the life of ordinary workers and their children in all its colors and shades, the artist left a magnificent gallery of paintings, which is the clearest evidence of that distant time.
His first creations were devoted to delightful landscapes - endless sprawling fields, blooming green meadows and boundless blue skies were painted by the artist to the smallest detail and amazed the viewer.
However, the greatest popularity and glory during his lifetime brought the painter not at all picturesque landscapes, but household painting. All subsequent creative activity of Gaetano Chierizi was inseparably associated with the depiction of the life and everyday life of the peasants, or, more precisely, their children - from babies to adolescents.
He painted with such trepidation and tenderness the children working in the fields along with adults, caring for livestock, showing them at home, as well as playing with their peers in their free time.
And the most amazing thing in the artist's works was that Gaetano portrayed both children and adults as cheerful and happy, despite the poverty and hardships of their lives. That is why this sparkling positive, masterfully displayed on his canvases, so attracted and continues to attract, as a century and a half ago, the eyes of the admired public to his creations.
