Friedrich von Amerling
Friedrich von Amerling (1803, Vienna - 1887, Vienna) is an Austrian artist. One of the most respected portrait painters of the 19th century, Amerling created over a thousand works, mostly portraits. He was a favorite portrait painter of the highest nobility and the big bourgeoisie during the time of the Viennese Biedermeier. The peak of the artist's popularity fell on the years 1830-1850. His works are distinguished by the elegance of design, exotic design and color variety. Most of Amerling's work is in Austrian museums and collections.
