Frank Bernard Dicksee
Frank Bernard Dixie (November 27, 1853 - October 17, 1928) is an English painter and illustrator.
He worked in the following genres: historical, religious, mythological, literary and genre painting.
He was also known for his portraits of high society ladies, which helped him gain success in his day.
Frank's father, Thomas Dixie, was a renowned artist who taught drawing from a very early age to both Frank and his brother Herbert and sister Margaret. Frank entered the Royal Academy in 1870 and achieved his first success there. He was elected to the Royal Academy in 1891 and became president in 1924. Dixie was knighted in 1925 and received the Royal Victorian Order from King George V in 1927.
