Francisco Masriera Y Manovens (1842-1902) was born in Barcelona. The son of an artist, he began to paint from childhood. Enlisting the support of his father, he set out for knowledge, traveling from city to city, and studying in Geneva, Paris and Rome. While in Rome, the artist began to write as an orientalist (a scientist - a specialist in the study of languages and cultures of the East), which brought him fame. His work is exhibited at the Museu Nacional d'Art of Catalonia (MNAC) in Barcelona and the Prado Museum in Madrid, as well as in private collections around the world.
