Edward John Poynter
Edward John Poynter (1836-1919), English painter, was born in Paris to an architect and artist. Received his elementary art education at Westminster School, studied painting in London, Rome and Paris. Distinguished by originality in composition, accuracy of drawing, brilliance of colors and delicacy of writing, he is widely known among his compatriots as an excellent historical and genre painter, mainly as an incomparable watercolorist. In particular, he loves to take plots from the ancient world and put on stage nude or classically nobly draped female figures.
