Edouard Louis Dubufe
Edouard Louis Dubufe (1819 - 1883) - French painter - portrait painter. At the beginning of his creative career, he was engaged in historical and religious painting. In 1848-1851 he lived in England, where he became acquainted with the works of famous English portrait painters. He began to paint mainly portraits, which made him a resounding reputation and brought great popularity. Enjoying great success with the aristocracy, he received orders from the emperor. The ability to embellish the image of the person depicted and, at the same time, maintain a resemblance to nature, as well as the taste with which the artist costumed his female models and painted all kinds of fabrics, made him the favorite portrait painter of French ladies of the highest circle.
