David Michael Bowers

David Michael Bowers is an American artist. Born 1956 in Shambersburg, Pennsylvania, graduated from art school in Pittsburgh in 1979. After graduation, he worked as a staff artist at various studios in Pittsburgh. In 1991, David embarked on a career as an illustrator, working primarily with book publishers in New York, for which he painted over a hundred book covers over a period of more than ten years. In addition, David's work has graced the covers of many famous magazines. Bowers' painting method is reminiscent of the style of the masters of the past, in particular the Dutch of the 17th century. David has studied their works for many years. The technique may be old, but his paintings include both contemporary themes and contemporary symbolism, which he describes as “realism on the edge.” Bowers' paintings are in many private collections throughout the United States and Europe, as well as in the Museum of American Illustration in New York and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC Bowers lives in Madeira Beach, Florida, where he paints a lot and is very meticulous every day.
