Daniel Pollera
I try to create a sense of calm and serenity that will lure the viewer into the picture, stimulating their emotions
Daniel Pollera is an American artist. His interest in art showed itself as a child. After a short study at Suny Farmingdale College, the commercial arts department, he left his studies to become part of the family business.
Daniel, for almost 15 years, took an academic leave from painting, but this did not rid him of his love for the sea. He received his captain's license in 1977 and began to roll passengers across the open ocean. The seascapes made him take up the brush again. Although Daniel is mostly self-taught, he still worked with Frances Norris Streit, and at the same time learned from her the skill of portrait painting.
Daniel Pollera captivates his fans with exhilarating images of emotions and feelings, which he reveals through light and composition. “I try to create a sense of calm and serenity that will lure the viewer into the picture, stimulating their emotions in order to interpret what he or she is feeling.” His paintings are deliberately deprived of people in order to create a closeness between the viewer and nature, which stimulates them to think.
