Charles Edouard Boutibonne

Charles Edouard Boutibonne (July 8, 1816, Budapest - February 7, 1897, Wilderswil) - French painter of the school of academic classicism.
Born to French parents in Hungary. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Arts, was a student of Friedrich von Amerling. Later he moved to Paris, where he eventually became a student and friend of Franz Winterhalter. He painted mainly salon scenes and portraits of aristocrats from the entourage of Napoleon III, as well as the emperor himself and his wife Eugene. He worked for 2 years in London, at the Royal Castle of Windsor, where he painted portraits of the Queen and the Prince.
The further life of the artist is connected with Switzerland, where he lived and worked until his death.
His works can be seen in museums in Paris, Bern, Budapest, London, Dortmund and others.
