Basile de Luz was born in Zele, Belgium, studied with his father, then in Antwerp and Paris. Since 1835, a resident of Brussels. The artist followed the traditions of the old masters: all the details of the interiors, clothes, utensils were carefully painted. His paintings are part of the Raidmakers collection of paintings by Belgian and Dutch romantic painters from 1806-1870. In 2010 this collection was exhibited at the Hermitage, St. Petersburg. For three months it was watched by one hundred thousand visitors.
His contemporaries rejoice at the birth of a child, his first steps, they marry, play music, play cards. And they bake waffles.
