Adrianus Eversen
Adrianus Eversen (1818 - 1897) was born in Amsterdam on January 13, 1818. He studied painting with Cornelis de Krauf and became one of the most famous painters in Holland.
Eversen was a contemporary of Cornelis Springer, both were students of Hendrik Gerrit Ten Kate, both were masters of urban landscape, depicting old Dutch cities. However, Eversen allowed himself more freedom, painting mostly fictional cityscapes, consisting of existing and fictional fragments, in contrast to the more truthful depictions of Springer.
The daily life of people, Dutch architecture, and the effect of sunlight play an important role in Eversen's work.
Eversen was popular during his lifetime, especially in Belgium, Great Britain, Holland. Traditionally, his work is classified as romanticism.
